About the role

The Assistant Controller supports the VP of Finance & Accounting by overseeing the day-to-day accounting tasks, preparing financial statements, maintaining internal controls, and analyzing financial data. This role ensures compliance with accounting standards and provides key insights to inform business decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to ensure compliance
  • Oversee and support the Accounting team day-to-day operations by interfacing with individuals within and outside of the organization to ensure proper treatment and coding of accounting transactions
  • Perform and/or review bank transactions, journal entries and account reconciliations and analyses
  • Investigate errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports
  • Manage the month-end close and the General Ledger
  • Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate the annual audit process and support tax filing and payments
  • Maintain internal controls, policies, procedures, and documentation and improve as needed
  • Work effectively under tight deadlines in a team environment with a focus on responsiveness

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business required; CPA earned or CPA candidate
  • 8+ years’ experience in accounting
  • Proficiency with Accounting software, especially Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains; Advanced ability with MS Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP
