About the role
As an Assistant Controller Finance at Heraeus Quartz North America, LLC in Buford, GA, you will oversee the entire month-end closing process, ensure accurate financial reporting, and focus on operations controlling, including variance analysis of production orders, standard cost calculations, and identifying saving potential. You will collaborate with Heraeus team members both locally and globally to ensure excellent process compliance and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for accurate product costing, including the governance and review of standard cost updates, the simulation of cost estimates for new products, and the monitoring of product cost development.
- Review and assess production order variances, including the preparation of variance reports for the leadership team, and coordinate continuous improvement cycles.
- Conduct performance assessment of production, including regular monitoring of inventory development and the alignment of reduction measures with internal stakeholders.
- Actively support all financial processes for month-end closing, planning, forecast, budget, and reporting.
- Lead and actively manage all controlling and financial issues, providing hands-on support to assist with site growth.
- Coordinate and direct the activities of the annual physical inventory for three plants.
- Assist with annual year-end audit.
- Manage tariff, obsolescence, NRV, and freight analysis and reporting.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key personnel at the Shared Service Center and corporate controlling in Germany.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or related fields such as accounting and/or business.
- 5–7 years of financial analysis and/or computerized cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a job shop environment with product cost analysis experience.
- SAP experience preferred (SAP R/3 or S/4).
- Proficiency in MS Office software as well as knowledge in BI-Tools like Analysis for Office and Qlik Sense.
- Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, financial mathematics, and statistics, and their application to accounting, budgeting, cost analysis, and financial reporting.
- Ability to select and apply appropriate quantitative methods and formulas for valuation, variance analysis, forecasting, risk assessment, and decision support.
- Understanding of financial relationships and models, including cash-flow dynamics, profitability, taxation, and capital structure.
- Strong capability to perform, automate, and validate calculations using spreadsheets, financial systems, databases, and analytical software tools, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and insight generation.
- Demonstrate a high level of integrity, professionalism, and leadership ability; exhibit a high level of motivation and initiative with the ability to meet deadlines.
