Responsibilities
- Direct daily accounting functions across payables, receivables, invoicing, and cash application to keep records current and accurate.
- Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules to ensure a smooth and timely month-end close.
- Aid in the preparation of monthly financial packages, including variance analysis and reporting for management review.
- Maintain effective accounting controls, documentation standards, and audit-ready records to support compliance requirements.
- Develop internal and external reporting schedules and contribute financial data for budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning.
- Support tax-related activities, year-end reporting, and coordination with external auditors or advisors as needed.
- Provide oversight, coaching, and quality review for staff accountants and AP/AR team members to promote accurate work and career growth.
- Identify workflow inefficiencies and help implement process enhancements, including documentation updates, automation efforts, and system-related improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
- At least 6 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including strong exposure to general ledger and month-end close activities.
- Prior experience working with accounting platforms such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar ERP/general ledger systems.
- Advanced Excel capability, including the use of formulas, lookups, and pivot tables.
- Solid knowledge of financial reporting practices, internal controls, and audit support procedures.
- Proven ability to balance multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Experience leading or reviewing the work of accounting staff is preferred.
- Background in services, law firm accounting, trust or escrow accounting, or tax support is a plus.
