Assistant Controller
About The Position
The Assistant Controller is a key member of the finance team and serves as a critical partner to the Controller in managing the District’s financial integrity and operational accountability. This position performs high-level accounting, financial reporting, budget development, forecasting, and analytical work essential to District decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Month-end closing
- General ledger management
- Balance sheet reconciliation
- Treasury transactions
- Capital project draw coordination
- Preparation of internal financial statements and discussion/analysis reports
- Maintain complex financial models
- Compile statistical and operational data
- Support annual audits
- Act as a liaison to District departments during the budget process
Requirements
- Active California CPA License (required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- MBA preferred
- 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in financial planning, analysis, and accounting
- The following experience is desirable, but not required:
- Experience in public agency or fund accounting
- Airport or aviation industry experience
- Experience with construction/public works projects
- Experience with Sage 100 or similar financial systems
Qualifications

To assess applicants' possession of required qualifications, the examination process may include an oral examination, pre-examination exercises, performance examination, and/or written examination.
