Assistant Coach - Women's Tennis

About the Role

The Assistant Coach - Women's Tennis supports the Department and University's mission through recruiting, coaching, mentoring, and providing administrative assistance for the women's tennis program and to the respective Head Coach.

Responsibilities

• Devote full-time attention and energies to duties as Assistant Coach of the women's tennis team.
• Comply fully with the rules, regulations, and policies of the University, the NCAA, and any and all conferences in which the women's tennis team participates, and take every reasonable precaution to ensure that all members of the women's tennis staff and student athletes comply fully with such rules, regulations and policies.
• Use reasonable efforts to attract and enroll impact student athletes that demonstrate significant contributions to their programs with appropriate academic, competitive, and community achievements.
• Assist the Head Coach to create a positive student-athlete experience and healthy team dynamics/culture that fosters high student-athlete retention.
• Use reasonable efforts to foster excellence in academic performance, team and personal conduct of the women's tennis team's student athletes.
• Use reasonable efforts to cultivate a culture that embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Strive to recruit and retain student-athletes with multifaceted backgrounds, skillsets, and passions.
• Use reasonable efforts to foster success in competition of the women's tennis team.
• Use reasonable efforts to meet annual performance objectives established by the Head Coach.
• Ensure that proper safety procedures are followed by all student-athletes (all coaches must be certified in CPR and first aid).
• Work with athletics trainers and physicians as needed to implement team wellness and conditioning programs.
• Support direction head coach gives to the Sports Performance coach as to the desired training goals.
• Responsible for working with all Athletic Department Offices in processing of administrative functions and paperwork related to overseeing the women's tennis program.
• Work with the Associate AD for Facilities, Operations & Events in the advising, planning, and implementation of pertinent facility management and maintenance for equipment and facilities.
• Attend conventions, conferences, and clinics consistent with Department and University policies.
• Serve on Department and University committees as assigned.
• Represent the school and program in a manner that supports the mission of the university through speaking engagements, instructional clinics, development efforts, and community relation programs that reflect a professional and positive impression to the media or general public.
• Work with student athletes and monitor their adherence to rules and regulations concerning conduct, appearance, and punctuality.
• May be required to drive a motor vehicle upon request.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• Two to four years of women's tennis intercollegiate coaching and/or playing experience.
• Ability to string tennis racquets.
• Ability to work weekends and nights.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge of women's tennis methods and techniques of coaching.
• Working knowledge of rules and regulations governing intercollegiate athletics.
• Ability to foster and maintain working relationships with various stakeholders.
• Moderate to high movement and activity required; responsibilities include extended periods of standing.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
• Ability to use social media platforms to help in the promotion of the program.
• Valid Class D Massachusetts Driver's license and ability to drive a passenger van.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree from an accredited institution.
• Two to four years of women's tennis intercollegiate coaching and/or playing experience at the Division I level.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in indoor and/or outdoor athletic facilities and venues. May require travel to competitions, lifting and transporting equipment, prolonged standing, and walking during practices, games, and recruiting activities. Shifts vary; work week includes nights, weekends and holidays.

Pay

$40,000.00 to $50,000.00 annually.
