Assistant Coach (Men’s Basketball)
Job Summary
The Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach reports to the Head Men’s Basketball Coach and assists in the coaching and training of the Men’s Basketball Team. This is a full-time appointment, renewable on a contract basis from May 1 through April 30.
Specific Responsibilities
- Coaching: Assist the head coach in the coaching and training of the Northwestern Men’s Basketball team; develop and conduct all in-season and out-of-season sessions as needed.
- Aid in psychological preparation of the team, including pre-game and post-game sessions; develop motivational approaches for practices and games.
- Recruiting: Assist the head coach in recruiting top student-athletes who can compete at the Big Ten level; maintain good relations with prospective and current student-athletes and their families.
- Alumni Relations, Public Relations, and Development: Maintain alumni relations; promote and participate in alumni events; assist in fundraising efforts for the Department and the University.
- Public Relations: Work with the Athletic Communications department and the Marketing department to publicize and market Northwestern Basketball; maintain positive relationships with faculty, staff, students, media, and alumni.
- Administrative/Other: Report to the Head Coach and perform other Department-related duties as assigned; cooperate with appropriate NUDAR staff in preparing for home basketball games; adhere to Department and University policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
- Experience coaching at the intercollegiate, international, or professional level.

Pay
The offered salary will be between $140,000 - $155,000 per year, determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and market data.
