About the role
The Assistant Boys Soccer Coach supports the team throughout the season, providing leadership in coordination of all levels of teams, development of expectations, preparation for competition, teaching skills, and adherence to school district regulations and policies.
Responsibilities
- Acts under the direction of the head coach and assumes their duties in their absence.
- Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for effective performance.
- Plans and directs a regular program of practice in season.
- Maintains competency in rules, regulations, and coaching techniques for the sport/activity.
- Maintains discipline and sportsmanlike conduct of all participants and enforces the policies of the District uniformly when disciplining participants.
- Captures freshman participants at interscholastic competition and in practice.
- Supervises student athletes when traveling.
- Oversees the safety conditions for students and facility, and the areas in which the sport is conducted during all times students are present.
- Demonstrates cooperative conduct.
- Shares in responsibility for equipment, distribution, collection and inventory.
Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Complete and submit an RE-1 Valley Schools online application.
- Willing and able to drive to away games, camps, scrimmages.
- Knowledgeable in the techniques and strategies for the sport/activity.
- Ability to read & interpret documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to follow both oral and written directions & instructions from the athletic director.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing, with students, parents, staff and the community.
- Ability to handle stressful situations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of employment and student matters.
- Ability to perform duties with an awareness of all district requirements and board policies.
- Ability to effectively manage time and responsibilities.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of high school and/or college coaching experience.
- Knowledge of all aspects of senior high school activity programming.
- Proven leadership qualities and successful experience in working with high school students.
- Background/experience in coaching high school soccer, or equivalent.
