About the role

The Department of Counseling and Educational Development in the School of Education seeks a part-time, 12-month masters-level counselor for the role of Assistant Director in the Nicholas A. Vacc Counseling and Consulting Clinic (Vacc). This position provides clinical and administrative support within the Vacc Clinic, including consultation and clinical supervision to counseling students, and leading special projects to enhance student training. Responsibilities may also include managing clinic staff, collaborating across campus, and developing marketing materials.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, organize, and market clinical and outreach services, including enhancing social media to promote free mental health services and stress-reduction topics (20% of time).
  • Manage clinic technology, including telehealth software, video recording, and electronic management systems (20% of time).
  • Provide on-call crisis consultation and supervisory support to counselors-in-training delivering clinical services (20% of time).
  • Update, develop, and train staff, supervisors, and students on clinic policies and procedures (10% of time).
  • Assist with updating policies, procedures, and data related to state licensure and licensure portability.
  • Collect and process paperwork for clinical internships and practicums.
  • Maintain and manage certification programs for the campus community and nationally.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in counseling from a CACREP-accredited program.
  • Two or more years of direct counseling experience.
  • Eligibility for state licensure (LCMHC).

Preferred Qualifications

  • State licensure (e.g., LCMHC).
  • Experience in counseling organization operations, including supervision of trainees or early-career counselors, client care coordination, and oversight of clinical/administrative processes.
  • Experience in crisis assessment and intervention, including supporting counselors-in-training, implementing safety protocols, and ensuring documentation and follow-up care.

Pay

$34,800 – $42,000 (recruitment range for 30% FTE, 12-month position).

Work Environment

Primarily indoors, with occasional walking required. Tasks involve frequent reading, writing, vision (close and distance), hearing, and talking, as well as standing, sitting, and walking.
