Assistant Child Care Teacher - Mid-County YMCA

About the Role

Follow general direction and perform other duties as assigned by the Child Care Teacher or Director.

Responsibilities

• Implements curriculum within the established guidelines.
• Nurtures children through purposeful programming dedicated to building achievement and belonging in children and relationships among children and families.
• Provides children opportunities to build self-help and independence skills.
• Ensures ongoing, systematic observation of individual children and consistently completes developmental assessments.
• Supports children in need.
• Engages parents/families, connecting them to the YMCA.
• Utilizes sound judgment and discretionary skills in accordance with the Gateway Region YMCA policies.
• Maintains positive relationships with diverse people, including staff, parents, volunteers, and program site administration, demonstrating strong public relation skills.
• Ensures YMCA policies and guidelines are followed at all times.
• Maintains an environment that ensures children’s safety and well-being.
• Plans and implements developmentally appropriate activities.
• Ensures zero tolerance for abuse and actively participates in the protection of youth and teens.
• Performs all other duties assigned.
