About the role

The Assistant Chief Pilot reports directly to the Chief Pilot and is responsible for identifying and improving safety areas within flight operations. This role is authorized to fulfill any interdepartmental procedures requiring the Chief Pilot’s involvement and assumes the Chief Pilot’s duties in their absence. Flight Crewmembers must cooperate fully with the Assistant Chief Pilot to ensure compliance with company manuals and applicable parts of 14 CFR.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety and security are the first considerations in aircraft operations and promote safety as a core value, including implementing, maintaining, developing, and integrating the company’s Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Perform SMS Facilitator duties as assigned, applying Safety Risk Management (SRM) for:
    • Implementation of new systems.
    • Revision of existing systems.
    • Development of operational procedures.
    • Identification of hazards or ineffective risk controls through the Safety Assurance process.
  • Ensure all flight operations comply with applicable parts of 14 CFR, Transportation Security Regulations (TSRs), and company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain current regulations, manuals, and operational bulletins in conjunction with the Chief Pilot, and ensure proper dissemination of information to Flight Crewmembers.
  • Assist the Chief Pilot in ensuring crewmembers use the approved company Weight/Balance Program for revenue flights.
  • Ensure pilots are aware of and sensitive to customer requirements.
  • Manage assigned stages and action items in the Q-Pulse database in accordance with 14 CFR Part 5 and SMS principles, completing them in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Hold an airline transport pilot certificate with appropriate ratings for at least one airplane used in the certificate holder's operation.
  • Be qualified through training, experience, and expertise to fulfill the role’s responsibilities.
  • Possess a full understanding of:
    • Aviation safety standards and safe operating practices.
    • 14 CFR Chapter I (Federal Aviation Regulations).
    • The certificate holder's operations specifications.
    • All appropriate maintenance and airworthiness requirements of 14 CFR, including Parts 1, 21, 23, 25, 43, 45, 47, 65, 91, and 121.
    • The manual required by 14 CFR 121.133.
  • Discharge duties to meet applicable legal requirements and maintain safe operations.

Qualifications

  • Rated in at least one type of aircraft operated by GoJet and maintain Line Qualification status as duties allow.
  • Attend industry meetings and network with other airline officials to stay current on industry events and practices.
  • Maintain technical competence through continued education and training, including completion of the ground-training portion of Continuing Qualification (CQ) per AQPTM 8-1.2.C.1.
