Assistant Cheer Coach -- All-Girl (Staff Wage)

Key Responsibilities

  • Aid in planning and conducting practices, including stunting, tumbling, conditioning, and game-day routine preparation.
  • Instruct and spot for all-girl stunts and pyramids, ensuring proper technique and safety.
  • Help develop and clean sidelines, timeout routines, and promotional performances.
  • Support the implementation of team standards for performance, behavior, and attendance.
  • Attend and assist with cheer activities at football, basketball, and other assigned athletic events.
  • Coordinate sidelines, timeouts, and halftime responsibilities.
  • Promote an energetic, engaging game-day atmosphere to enhance fan experience.
  • Serve as a positive mentor and role model for student-athletes.
  • Encourage academic success, leadership, teamwork, and personal growth.
  • Promote a respectful, inclusive, and team-oriented environment.
  • Assist with tryouts, clinics, and candidate evaluations.
  • Maintain attendance records, communication, and team organization.
  • Travel with the team to select away games and appearances.
  • Assist with travel coordination and supervision of student-athletes during trips.
  • Ensure compliance with established cheer safety guidelines and best practices.
  • Monitor athlete conditioning and proper skill progression.
  • Maintain or obtain CPR/First Aid certification.

Student-Athlete Development

  • Serve as a positive mentor and role model for student-athletes.
  • Encourage academic success, leadership, teamwork, and personal growth.
  • Promote a respectful, inclusive, and team-oriented environment.

Recruitment & Team Operations

  • Assist with tryouts, clinics, and candidate evaluations.
  • Help maintain attendance records, communication, and team organization.

Travel & Logistics

  • Must be available for travel to the women’s basketball ACC tournament and NCAA tournament.
  • Assist with travel coordination and supervision of student-athletes during trips.

Safety & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with established cheer safety guidelines and best practices.
  • Monitor athlete conditioning and proper skill progression.
  • Maintain or obtain CPR/First Aid certification.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of all-girl stunting, tumbling, and cheer safety standards.
  • Ability to instruct, spot, and support advanced-level skills.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.

Anticipated Compensation

Anticipated compensation: $5,000 - $6,000. This is a wage position which is not eligible for leave or other benefits and is limited to 1500 hours of work in a year.
