About the Role
The Assistant Center Store Manager ensures our customers’ needs are met and exceeded through effective management of assigned areas. This position oversees front-end operations and staff in the absence of the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager, rotating responsibility across the following areas:
- Front-End: Oversees cashiers, clerks, and helpers; manages scheduling for productivity and customer service; oversees parking lot operations and store balancing.
- Night Crew: Oversees Center Store operations, productivity standards, night receiving, facility security, shrink management, and store readiness for opening.
- Frozen/Dairy/Deli: Ensures productivity, freshness, schematic and stocking standards, planner execution, and shrink control.
- Evening: Oversees Center Store merchandising, product conditions, back room, steel, and shelving.
The role involves supervising and training associates, managing performance, and fostering a culture aligned with Food Maxx’s mission and winning behaviors.
Responsibilities
- Provide customers with a remarkable shopping experience by training and holding associates accountable for excellent customer service.
- Contribute to gross profit goals through effective management of price integrity, shrink control, ordering, and product management.
- Lead associates in assigned areas to achieve high business performance outcomes.
- Develop and train associates, complete supervision reports, and foster a collaborative environment.
- Improve productivity, labor efficiency, and shopping experience through effective resource utilization.
- Oversee cold chain, shrink management, and price integrity for assigned areas.
- Ensure store cleanliness and sanitation compliance.
- Depending on assigned function, maintain schematic integrity, shelf conditions, display maintenance, and code date rotation.
- Oversee building security, hazardous waste processing, and front-end operations when store management is absent.
- Manage night receiving, cashier balancing, ordering, and inventory processes.
- Occasionally oversee total store operations in the absence of store management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, supervision, training, organization, administration, and math skills; excellent customer service; knowledge of department operations, products, processes, visual merchandising, store hazardous materials, and food safety rules.
- Education: One year of college (or equivalent knowledge through formal education, specialized training, or job experience).
- Experience: Minimum six months as Key Carrier or nine months as Perimeter Department Manager (or equivalent).
- Availability: Must be available to work varied retail hours and rotate/train in all Assistant Center Store Manager areas (Front-End, Night Crew, Frozen/Dairy/Deli, Evening).
- Physical: Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, stoop, use stairs, reach, pull, and lift objects; requires lifting up to 40 lbs. without assistance.
Pay
$30.67 per hour.
