About This Role

As a Assistant Center Director - Exeter Center at Great Bay Kids in Exeter, NH, you will guide ECE program quality and staff development. Candidates must bring the appropriate professional qualifications.

The Assistant Center Director plays a pivotal role in supporting the Center Director, overseeing the daily operations of the center, and ensuring a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment for children and families.

This role involves managing enrollment, budgets, family communication, and program operations while maintaining compliance with licensing standards and organizational values. The Assistant Center Director acts as a resource to staff and families, fostering positive relationships and high-quality early education.

What You'll Do

  • Program & Classroom Operations
    • Ensure classrooms are stocked with necessary supplies and maintained in a safe and organized manner.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student health records and oversee the ordering process for all classrooms.
    • Directly supervise Senior Education Lead to ensure age-appropriate curriculum is consistently implemented.
    • Manage student allergies and ensure all health and safety protocols are followed.
    • Document all accidents, incidents, and illnesses appropriately.
  • Enrollment & Family Engagement
    • Manage the enrollment process, including maintaining and communicating with the waitlist, and recruiting and onboarding new families.
    • Carry out family tours and oversee onboarding for new families.
    • Lead conflict resolution with families and address concerns between parents and teachers.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for families for all enrollment and curriculum questions.
    • Manage special events.
  • Leadership & Staff Support
    • Aid the Center Director with staff onboarding and orientation as needed.
    • Participate in staff meetings and contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture.
    • Help identify professional development opportunities for staff in partnership with the Center Director.
    • Support licensing compliance in collaboration with the Center Director.
    • Aid in preparing board reports alongside Center Director.
  • Facilities & Compliance
    • Monitor facility concerns and escalate issues as needed to ensure safe environments.
    • Help maintain compliance with all licensing requirements and organizational policies.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in early childhood education or related field and a minimum of 4 years of classroom teaching experience in a childcare setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA & other federal, state & local standards - including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
  • Ability to maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA & other federal, state and local standards
  • Compliance with all personnel policies

  • Financial acumen: Ability to manage the center budget and ensure income and costs are tracked and reported appropriately.
  • Organizational skills: Strong ability to multitask, manage multiple priorities, and maintain meticulous records.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with children, parents, and staff.
  • Experience working with children
  • First Aid and CPR
  • Knowledge of Procare
  • Attention to detail: Maintain the quality and accuracy of administrative work including financial reporting, tracking student paperwork, and ensuring safety protocols are followed.
  • Conflict management and problem solving: The capacity to manage disagreements, de-escalate tense situations, and facilitate respectful dialogue.
