Assistant Category Manager

About the role

Category Managers assist in maximizing profitability of assigned product lines through tasks such as product selection, line reviews, advertising, marketing, inventory management, warranty analysis, and supplier negotiations. They work closely with Category Managers to develop and implement category-level strategies and tactics for profitable growth.

Responsibilities

• Perform product line analysis including unit sales trends, dollar sales trends, GP trends, SKU-level add/drops, and present recommendations to Product Manager and Director.
• Aid Category Managers with promotional planning and execution.
• Communicate with stores and other departments to ensure successful execution of merchandising projects.
• Work collaboratively across various departments to optimize the flow of goods.
• Make recommendations for strategic business plans using comprehensive data and insights.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Bachelor's in Business Administration
• Self-motivated to high levels of achievement
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Analytical and strong mathematical skills
• Understanding of win/win negotiation techniques
• Desired: Concentration in General Business, Marketing, or Finance

Qualifications

• Willingness to commit to self-study and group study negotiation techniques
• Strong understanding of numbers and ability to evaluate based on factual data
• Ability to negotiate effectively and commit to professional development
