About the role

Napa Home & Garden is looking for an Assistant Buyer/Product Manager who wants a real seat at the table while learning every aspect of merchandising, from trends to product development, assortment planning, and vendor management. This is the first step on Napa's merchandising career path, built for someone who's analytical, design-curious, and ready to grow into a future Buyer.

Responsibilities

  • Product Assortment Execution: Maintain assortment line lists, product setup, and SKU data across 2-3 seasons at once; support development from concept through launch, tracking milestones, samples, and vendor communication.
  • Analytics that Drive Decisions: Build dashboards and recurring reports in Excel, Power BI, and ERP tools. Identify trends and prepare insights that influence merchandising decisions.
  • Vendor & Cross-Functional Communication: Communicate daily with domestic and international vendors on development, samples, and timelines; partner with Design, Sales, Marketing, and Operations to keep launches on track.
  • Consumer Insights: Research consumer trends, competitive assortments, pricing, and emerging design directions to support assortment planning. Participate in line reviews, trade shows, and category business reviews and bring ideas.

Napa wants Assistant Buyers who ask good questions and push category performance forward.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years in Buying, Merchandising, Retail, or a related analytical or commercial role
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Merchandising, Marketing, or a related field
  • Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with data
  • Sharp organizational skills. Ability to coordinate multiple seasons and deadlines.
  • Curiosity about home décor, design trends, and consumer behavior
  • Clear, confident written and verbal communication

Physical requirements

  • Sitting, standing, walking
  • Prolonged use of computer; use of hands and finger coordination
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Twice a year during Market periods: standing and walking for 8-12 hours each day

Schedule

This is a hybrid role based at our Norcross, GA headquarters. Candidates should expect to be in the office up to 3 days a week. Extended hours and select weekends during peak season, showroom prep, and market (twice annually).
