Assistant Buyer - Greensboro, NC

About the role

At Davidson’s, Assistant Buyers operate in two complementary capacities: as product buyers and as internal/external advocates for those products. Reporting to the Divisional Merchandise Manager and Merchandising Managers, you will collaborate with sales and marketing to execute advertising campaigns, promotions, events, dealer communications, and product training. You will also serve as the primary liaison with suppliers, cultivating relationships and negotiating favorable pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules.

Responsibilities

• Support procurement by selecting and purchasing products in alignment with merchandising leadership’s direction.
• Communicate with vendors to negotiate prices, terms, and delivery schedules; resolve order or delivery issues.
• Assist in preparing the department’s participation in trade shows and events.
• Conduct market research and provide regular reporting on trends, supplier performance, and market changes.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate timely reordering and stock replenishment.
• Maintain and analyze purchasing data to inform buying decisions and strategies.
• Prepare purchase orders, process invoices, and maintain accurate transaction records.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or a related business field.
• Previous buying or procurement experience in the outdoor/sporting goods industries.
• Strong knowledge of firearms and related accessories.
• Analytical mindset, attention to detail, and strong organizational abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with inventory management software is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to build and maintain supplier and internal relationships.
• Aptitude for problem-solving and negotiation to secure optimal outcomes for the company.

Pay

Starting salary of $25.00 per hour.
