Responsible for

  • Loading and material handling
  • Using the company's ERP system, EPICOR
  • Transacting work product steps
  • Accounting for production time
  • Engaging in cross-training
  • Locating and verifying material
  • Handling, staging, and loading material
  • Moving material to the machine area
  • Following operating procedures and safety rules
  • Communicating with the team and supervisor
  • Safely unloading piece parts
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area
  • Performing operator preventative maintenance
  • Training new associates
  • Documenting mark numbers
  • Grinding and cleaning up pieces
  • Recognizing and reporting defects

Essential Duties / Responsibilities

  • Engage in cross-training in different areas within the organization
  • Learn new skills such as welding or material handling
  • Locate and verify material before moving it to the machine area
  • Handle, stage, and load material
  • Ensure CNC burn tables meet safety, quality, delivery, and productivity expectations
  • Follow all operating procedures and safety rules
  • Coordinate and maintain regular communication with the team and supervisor
  • Relay quality and safety issues to appropriate personnel
  • Safely unload piece parts after completing cutting operations
  • Remove and dispose of scrap material
  • Identify and mark salvageable panels
  • Document mark numbers on cut material
  • Grind and clean up pieces as needed
  • Report all defects to operators, line lead, and supervisor
  • Avoid performing operator preventative maintenance
  • Train new associates as required
  • Follow good workstation housekeeping practices
  • Safely operate the machine for short intervals
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education, Work Experience, And Proficiencies

  • Prior fabrication experience such as crane operation, metal processing, and material handling equipment experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as travelers, procedures, and instructions
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply and divide by 10’s and 100’s without a calculator
  • Ability to perform mathematical operations involving whole numbers and fractions in both standard and metric units of measurement
  • 1+ years of prior manufacturing experience with a steel or aluminum manufacturer
  • 1+ years of experience operating complex CNC-controlled machines
  • 1+ years of experience with overhead cranes and forklifts
  • Ability to read, interpret, and comprehend blueprint drawings

Experience And Abilities Are Preferred

Physical Demands

  • Repetitive movement tasks, requiring standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, grasping, pushing, and pulling grating material of various sizes and weights for long periods of time
  • Lifting or moving up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds
  • Exposure to noise, dust, heat, and cold
  • Exposure to machine and tool hazards requiring care and attention to safety rules and standards

Work Environment

  • Regularly working on the production floor
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
