Assistant Building Inspector

About the role

The Building Inspector is responsible for ensuring compliance with local building codes and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate construction projects for adherence to building codes and safety standards
• Inspect buildings and structures for structural integrity and compliance with codes
• Issue permits and ensure proper documentation of construction activities
• Enforce zoning laws and regulations
• Respond to complaints and conduct investigations related to building code violations

Requirements

• Four years experience or combined experience as a building contractor, journey level trades
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings

Qualifications

Certification as a Code Enforcement Officer or Building Inspector preferred but not required.
