Responsibilities
- Direct all aspects of breeder operations
- Lead team to ensure proper methods & techniques for optimal health and performance of breeder flocks
- Aid in training and leading the team in proper on-farm management techniques
- Maintain and adjust breeding programs based on flock records
- Evaluate and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Recruit new growers; maintain and improve housing facilities
- Review weekly settlement data and address grower complaints as necessary
- Oversee pullet chick placement schedules and artificial insemination monitoring
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Animal or Poultry Science or closely related field
- 5+ years of breeder management experience
- Extensive knowledge of breeder bird health
- Outstanding communication skills
Physical Requirements
- Frequent travel to assigned farms
- Frequent lifting of items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Daily walking in an outdoor environment, including inclement weather conditions
- Constant exposure to dusty and hot environments
- Frequent exposure to fumes and airborne particles
- Sometimes exposed to moving mechanical parts
