Assistant, Brand Communications
About The Position
This position is hybrid in-office, with the ability to work remotely for up to 2 days per week. The Associate Manager, Brand Communications supports the development and execution of integrated communications strategies that elevate People Inc.'s Entertainment, Beauty & Style brands, with a primary focus on PEOPLE. This role partners cross-functionally with editorial, social, events, and external stakeholders to drive media visibility, cultivate key relationships, support high-profile editorial franchises, and execute high-impact communications initiatives that support business objectives. The Associate Manager contributes to strategic communications planning while ensuring seamless execution of day-to-day PR initiatives, expanding the reach and cultural relevance of the PEOPLE brands.
About The Team
This role is part of the Brand Communications team for People Inc.'s Entertainment, Beauty, and Style brands which include PEOPLE, InStyle, Entertainment Weekly, and Byrdie. This team is responsible for developing and executing communications strategies that elevate editorial content, talent, business initiatives, events, partnerships, and brand moments across consumer, trade, broadcast, digital, social, and industry media.
Accountabilities
- Support and execute communications strategies that promote PEOPLE's editorial content, brand initiatives, and talent through proactive media relations, strategic outreach, relationship management, and cross-functional collaboration. (60%)
- Coordinate and support media appearances, editorial launches, events, and other high-impact communications initiatives by managing logistics, materials, external partners, and execution to ensure successful outcomes. (25%)
- Contribute to communications planning and team operations by monitoring media coverage, identifying opportunities, developing communications materials, supporting reporting and administrative processes, and collaborating on strategic initiatives that advance business goals. (15%)
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent communications experience.
Experience: 2-4 years experience.
Skills
- Superior written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of the media landscape, effective media relations practices and identifying what makes news and why.
- Knowledge of entertainment media including areas of celebrity, pop culture, etc.
- Comfortable working both independently of others and as a team player.
- Strong knowledge of social media.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and solution-focused with strong critical thinking skills.
Pay & Benefits
Salary Range (New York): $67,000.00 - $72,000.00. Actual pay may vary based on factors including work location, experience, and performance.
