About the role

Under the direct supervision of a medical technologist, begin blood transfusions, and perform a limited number of routine, repetitive, clearly defined analyses for which the individual has demonstrated proficiency. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Transfuse blood and blood components under the supervision of a medical technologist, according to established protocol, and including all patient identification and documentation requirements.
• Respond to requirements of the workload.
• Follow established procedures for infection control and safety.
• Perform routine technical procedures, including preparation of blood and blood components for transfusion, under supervision of a medical technologist according to AABB standards.
• Perform quality control procedures on reagents and equipment according to established protocol.
• Collect blood specimens.
• Assist in instruction of Medical Technology students and new employees in routine procedural techniques, as assigned.
• Demonstrates commitment to professional growth and competency.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum Required 6 Months; Preferred/Desired One Year.
• Education: Minimum Required High School Diploma or Equivalent; Preferred/Desired Completion of Allied Health Course Work.
• Training: Preferred/Desired Minimum Required Preferred/Desired.
• Special Skills Licensure.
