About the role
The Apprentice Bartender is responsible for servicing guests in a courteous and professional manner while assisting bartenders throughout the course of business. This role ensures bar areas are always cleaned, organized, and properly stocked with prepped ingredients.
Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome all guests in a professional manner.
- Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the bar area.
- Ensure the bar is properly stocked with supplies necessary for service.
- Replenish ice coolers, garnish trays, straws, and napkin holders.
- Ensure bar equipment and supplies are clean and in working order.
- Anticipate guests' needs and respond appropriately with a sense of urgency.
- Perform all opening and closing duties based upon shift assignment.
- Ensure all Resorts World core values and property and department standards are implemented and applied.
- Obtain and maintain position-specific licensing.
- Use personal device/cellular phone for job-related operational tasks, job duties, and review of company documents.
- Adhere to five core non-negotiable responsibilities:
- Everyone is an Ambassador – treat the property like your own home.
- Everyone works in Safety – address safety concerns immediately.
- Everyone works in Security – report security concerns.
- Everyone works in EVS – maintain cleanliness and report larger messes.
- Everyone works in Guest Experience – assist guests with a smile and escalate when needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English.
- Polished appearance and demeanor.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain full knowledge and understanding of company and department rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Must be 21 years of age.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least six months of experience working in a similar bar or restaurant setting.
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
- Required licenses:
- Food Handler Card
- Alcohol Awareness Card
- Non-Gaming Card
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic understanding of bartender work and/or drink preparation.
Physical Demands
- Work is typically performed in a restaurant/bar environment.
- Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination, and air quality.
- Prolonged sitting/standing.
- Bending and reaching.
- Transporting, pushing, pulling, lifting, and maneuvering items weighing up to 30 lbs.
- Eye/hand coordination.
- Ability to comply with policies and procedures, job descriptions, daily memorandums, chemical labels (SDS), and other instructions.
