About the role

The Division of Student Success at Washington University in St. Louis seeks an athletic training professional for the position of Assistant Athletic Trainer. The Division advances the university’s educational mission through resources and experiences outside the classroom that prepare students for lifelong success. This is a 10-month full-time position, reporting to work during August through May. The successful candidate can choose to be paid over ten months (August–May) or have their ten months of compensation spread across the full twelve months of the academic year.

Responsibilities

  • Prevention, evaluation, treatment, referral, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses to WashU student-athletes.
  • Assists in the teaching and instruction of the athletic training class.
  • Assists in organizing and conducting the in-service program for athletic training students.
  • Assists in the supervision of students employed in the athletic training program.
  • Manages the computer storage of electronic medical records.
  • Works in conjunction with colleagues in athletic training and strength and conditioning to address injury issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

  • Occasional lifting of water coolers weighing 60 pounds.
  • Travel with sports to away competitions requiring overnight stays 10–12 times per year.
  • Evening and weekend work required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Athletic Trainers Certification (ATC) from the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA).
  • Licensed as an Athletic Trainer in the state of Missouri.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree.
  • Advanced knowledge and proficiency with injury evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation.
  • Prior experience with administrative responsibilities.
  • Two years of assistant trainer experience.
