About the Role
This is a full-time, 9-month ranked faculty position within the College of Health in the School of Nursing at Husson University. The faculty member will teach courses specific to their area of expertise, advise students, engage in scholarship, and participate in service activities as outlined in the Husson University Faculty Handbook.
Responsibilities
- Teaching: Carry primary responsibility for 24 credit hours per academic year, teaching in undergraduate nursing programs.
- Scholarship and Professional Activity: Maintain currency in professional areas of expertise and participate in scholarly activities. Up to one day per workweek may be negotiated for clinical practice to maintain licensure/certifications.
- Service: Actively participate in Program and School meetings, retreats, committees, and activities (e.g., Open House, Convocation, student recruitment projects). Serve on committees within the School, College, and/or University.
- Student Advising: Maintain student office hours and advise assigned nursing students following university policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Master's degree in Nursing required.
- Earned doctorate in Nursing or a related field (PhD, ScD, DNP, or EdD) preferred.
- Candidates nearing completion of a doctoral degree will be considered.
- Licensure: Current Maine Registered Nurse (RN) license, or eligibility to obtain Maine RN licensure.
- Experience:
- Minimum of three years of direct clinical experience required.
- Previous college or university teaching experience preferred, with at least three years of documented teaching experience strongly desired.
- Demonstrated expertise in the assigned area(s) of teaching responsibility.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly sit and use hands to handle, finger, or feel objects.
- Frequently reach with hands and arms.
- Stand, walk, and communicate effectively through speaking and hearing.
- Teach in various instructional settings, including large classrooms, small groups, and online platforms.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Possess visual abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
