Teaching

  • Actively precept as teaching physician in the resident outpatient clinics.
  • Incorporate patient care aspects and procedural skills into teaching.
  • Incorporate time management skills, doctor-patient relationship, professionalism, ethical and legal considerations, and billing and coding into teaching.
  • Counsel and advise family practice residents regularly on their rotation evaluations, chart notes, and professional development.
  • Develop and facilitate core curriculum conferences for the residency program.

Service

  • Provide direct patient care to own panel of patients at the Center.
  • Conduct procedure clinics as needed based on patient demand.
  • Participate in hospitalist family medicine call.
  • Participate in Center Peer Review and Quality Improvement activities.
  • Provide emergency services to patients as needed, including those without a primary care physician.
  • Serve on the Center-wide Committees, as assigned.
  • Serve on school and department committees, as assigned.
  • Participate in community outreach projects.
  • Attend faculty meetings and resident conferences.

Research

  • Conduct research in areas of particular interest.
  • Publish in referred journals.
  • Complete a minimum of 2 scholarly activities every 5 years.
  • Attend national professional meetings for attendance/presentation.

Qualifications

  • Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations.
  • Md or DO degree from an accredited residency training program at time of hire.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine at time of hire.
  • Licensed to practice Medicine in the state of Illinois at time of hire.
  • Willingness to practice inpatient family medicine and/or obstetrical calls.
