Assistant/Associate/ Professor of Anatomy - College of Medicine

About the role

The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine is seeking an experienced Anatomy faculty member to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching medical students in the areas of gross anatomy, embryology, histology, and neuroanatomy.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as content expert in area of expertise
  • Serve as Problem Based Learning (PBL) facilitator
  • Provide examination questions for PBL exams in area of expertise
  • Instruct graduate students in area of expertise
  • Interview prospective candidates for the College of Medicine (COM)
  • Serve as advisor/mentor to assigned students
  • Serve as advisor to at least one student club
  • Serve on committees, as assigned
  • Prepare educational tools (A/V, demonstration models, lectures, lesson plans)
  • Prepare demonstrations, lectures, small group discussions, and the selection of suggested and required reading from various sources
  • Prepare evaluation tools that will aid in the evaluation of students' work product and help to identify students that are discovered to be weak in various areas
  • Attend "Team" meetings approved by COM that require advancement of your profession
  • Contribute to the development of the college through research and service

Qualifications

  • Terminal degree (Ph.D., D.O., M.D., D.C.)
  • Demonstrated interest in teaching medical students
  • At least three years' teaching experience in medically-oriented gross anatomy, including virtual laboratory experience, embryology, histology, and neuroanatomy

Skills

  • Strong communications skills
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
  • Accurate data entry skills
  • Knowledge of student and patient's privacy (FERPA, HIPAA)
  • Follow proper OSHA and safety guidelines
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Training and certification on the Institutional Data System
  • Maintain an established work schedule
  • Effective interpersonal and communications skills
  • Effective organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands
  • Maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Flexibility to accept other duties needed/assigned for the COM
  • Work cooperatively and collegially with others
  • Report to work as scheduled, ready to devote full attention and energy to the important work of LECOM
  • Accept work directives from managers and supervisors in a respectful and cooperative manner
