Position Details Position Information Position Title Assistant/Associate Professor, Nutrition and Dietetics Division College of Nursing (CON) Department Health Sciences Job Description The Dwight Schar College of Nursing and Health Sciences (CONHS), Department of Health Sciences, invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Nutrition and Dietetics, Tenure-Track or Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor of Nutrition and Dietetics, Non-Tenure Track. This nine (9) month full-time faculty position will support the undergraduate Nutrition and Dietetics degree program. The Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in nutrition and dietetics consistent with the candidate’s expertise and program needs assigned by the Nutrition and Dietetics Program Director. These courses could include Human Nutrition, Advanced Nutrition, Nutrition Counseling, Vitamins and Minerals and Food Science. Responsibilities Include Support the mission, vision, values and strategic goals of Ashland University, the CONHS and the Department of Health Sciences.Support Ashland University’s philosophy of Accent on the IndividualTeach undergraduate courses in the area of nutrition and researchContribute to course and curriculum development, evaluation, and innovationAdvise nutrition and dietetics studentsParticipate and contribute to undergraduate student recruitment, mentoring, and retention effortsContribute to program accreditation activities, including documentations, data collection, assessment, management, and preparation of materials for ACEND reviewsDevelop working professional relationships with local, state, and national agencies and organizations to enhance service learning and other educational opportunitiesAbility to work cooperatively with faculty and staff in diverse academic programsCommitment to the assessment of learning outcomesServe on department, college and university committeesParticipate in faculty development and professional activities within and beyond the CONHSMaintain a program of scholarship appropriate for a tenure-track faculty appointment that engages students when appropriateCommitment to continued professional developmentSupport experiential learning and community engagement initiatives Required Qualifications Earned master’s or terminal degree from an accredited university in Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Science, Public Health or closely related field with a minimum of 18 graduate course credits in Nutrition.Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential and eligible for licensure in the state of Ohio. Preferred Qualifications Doctoral degree preparationClinical, sports, community, industry, or other professional practice experience as a RDNExperience with ACEND accreditation or other academic assessment processesExperience with undergraduate education including teaching, advising, mentoring, or program coordinationDemonstrated record of teaching and scholarly activityDemonstrated commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and professional development Physical Demands Faculty should be available to participate in events important to the ongoing success of the University and CollegeRequires the ability to work indoors in a moderately stressful environment and the ability to adapt to changes in workload. Physical requirements may include frequent sitting, walking, lifting, reaching, pushing/pulling and twisting.
