Purpose of Role: The Department Chair assists the Dean in overseeing College of Nursing faculty to meet the tripartite mission of the college, including teaching, research and creative/scholarly activity, and professional and University service and public outreach.
Responsibilities
- Oversee promotion processes, faculty development programs, faculty recruitment and retention, faculty evaluation, and faculty personnel actions.
- Manage faculty governance and initiatives pertaining to faculty well-being across all campus sites.
- Serve as a key member of the Dean’s leadership team, providing strategic insight and assisting in setting college goals.
- Foster and maintain positive relationships with College and University leadership and community stakeholders, including OUH and clinical site partners.
- Develop and articulate a clear vision and strategy for the department that aligns with the University of Oklahoma’s Lead On, University Strategic Plan.
Requirements
- Eligible for or hold a current registered professional nurse (RN) license for the State of Oklahoma.
- Terminal degree (preferably in Nursing or a health-related field).
Appointment
This is a full-time, 12-month in-person faculty appointment, eligible for Consecutive Term or Tenure-Track at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor. The role includes a 50% administrative position with faculty appointment commensurate with rank and scholarship.
