University of Kentucky – Department of Health & Clinical Sciences, Lexington, KY – Full-time, tenure-track faculty position (11-month, special-title series) with a preferred start date of July 1, 2027.

About the Role

The Human Health Sciences (HHS) program in the Department of Health & Clinical Sciences invites applications for a teaching-focused, tenure-eligible faculty member. This is the second new faculty hire this year to support the program’s growth. The HHS degree is a pre-professional liberal-arts foundation for students pursuing advanced healthcare degrees (e.g., medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, physician assistant studies, physical therapy, occupational therapy, optometry, athletic training, medical research) or careers in patient navigation, leadership, and related graduate studies.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses in the HHS program, such as ethics, health policy, research in health sciences, social determinants of health, and/or cultural humility, based on the candidate’s expertise.
• Participate in curriculum development, student advising/mentoring, and admission activities.
• Engage in service at the department, college, and university levels.
• Conduct scholarship and research activities appropriate for the special-title series.

The anticipated effort distribution is: Instruction 65–75%, Research/Scholarship 10–20%, Service 8–10%, and Professional Development 2–5%, as determined annually with the Department Chair.

Requirements

• Doctoral degree in a health sciences-related field (e.g., public health, health psychology, health communication, health administration, medical sociology, medical anthropology, health education, or social work); ABD candidates considered.
• Relevant experience in a health sciences discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2–3 years of instructional experience in health sciences-related coursework at the post-secondary level, particularly undergraduate instruction.
• Teaching experience in ethics, health policy, research in health sciences, social determinants of health, cultural humility, or related subjects.
• Demonstrated record of scholarship, research presentations, or publications.
