The University of Minnesota Medical School invites applications for a medical oncologist to join their expanding GI oncology program.
Position Details
Clinical Focus: Develop a focused clinical practice in GI malignancies within a collegial solid-tumor faculty group.
Research & Academic Focus: Meaningful protected research time, negotiated based on career track and research profile.
Mentorship & Career Development: Structured mentorship provided by senior HOT division faculty, including guidance on grant development, clinical trial design, and national society engagement.
Education: Participate in ACGME-accredited Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program and teaching opportunities for residents and medical students.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- M.D., D.O., or equivalent medical degree
- Board Eligible or Board Certified in Medical Oncology and/or Hematology/Oncology
- Eligibility for medical license in Minnesota
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in patient care, education, and academic medicine
- Ability to obtain credentialing at all applicable clinical sites
Preferred Qualifications:
- Fellowship training or additional focus in gastrointestinal oncology
- Clinical trial experience, including investigator-initiated research
- Academic productivity demonstrated through publications, presentations, or grant activity
- Interest in developing a disease-focused clinical or translational research program in GI malignancies
Pay and Benefits
Total combined salary is anticipated to be in the range of $270,000-$465,407. Applicants should complete this application and also an application for a position with the University of Minnesota Physicians; depending on education/qualifications/experience.

Faculty are nationally and internationally recognized for contributions in cellular therapy, immunotherapy, translational oncology, and clinical trial innovation.
