Assistant/Associate Director of Academic and Bar Success

About the Role

The Charleston School of Law is seeking an Assistant (entry-level) or Associate (experienced) Director for Academic and Bar Success to join our team. This full-time, 12-month administrative position reports to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and focuses on enhancing the effectiveness of the Office of Academic and Bar Success. The role involves supporting law students from Orientation through bar licensure, teaching academic and bar success courses, and staying informed on NextGen Bar Exam developments.

Responsibilities

• Teach a variety of courses, including:
  • Orientation sessions focusing on foundational skills for incoming students
  • A 1L class (second semester) structured as a study group for select students
  • A 2L class covering essential lawyering skills such as:
    • Client interviewing and counseling
    • Legal research and investigation
    • Persuasive fact analysis
  • A 3L bar prep course taken in the final semester
• Assist in designing and executing workshops throughout the school year
• Provide one-on-one support for at-risk or probationary students
• Serve as a bar study coach during graduates' full-time bar study journey
• Collaborate with the team to promote the School’s mission of student success

Requirements

• Familiarity with the skills needed for law student success
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills
• Excellent computer skills
• Knowledge of the Uniform Bar Exam and the NextGen Bar Exam
• Licensed to practice law in at least one jurisdiction
