Assistant/Associate Collegiate Professor

About the role

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Virginia Tech seeks applications for a non-tenure track Collegiate Faculty position at the Assistant or Associate level, depending on experience and qualifications, in the broad areas of controls and vibrations engineering with an anticipated start date of August 2027. We are seeking candidates who are committed to a career in teaching.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses in both regular and laboratory classroom settings, as well as in distance-learning environments.
• Contribute to departmental service.
• Mentor and advise students.
• Teach a broad range of undergraduate and graduate courses, including but not limited to controls and vibrations engineering, design, technical electives, capstone senior design, leadership/entrepreneurship, and instrumentation/experimental-methods courses.

Requirements

• Hold a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline by the start of their appointment.
• Experience as the lead instructor in mechanical engineering undergraduate courses is preferred.
