Assistant/Associate/Clinical Professor of PA Studies

Responsibilities

  • Advising and mentoring students
  • Course coordination
  • Classroom teaching
  • Participation in course assignments and student assessment
  • Developing student objectives
  • Participating in lab sessions
  • Performing clinical site visits
  • Auxiliary clinical work in the PA area of expertise
  • Establishing a personal program of scholarly activity
  • Participation in department meetings, college and university committees, and state and/or national organizations
  • Participation in the ARC-PA continuing accreditation process
  • Participation in the admissions process

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an ARC-PA-accredited PA program, accredited NP program, or MD/DO program.
  • Master’s degree in PA studies or other discipline.
  • Current NCCPA certification or discipline-specific national certification, state licensure in California (or state license eligibility).
  • Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience as a PA, NP, or MD/DO.

Preferred Qualifications

  • DMSc, PhD, DHSc, MD/DO or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in Medical Spanish.
  • Proficiency in POCUS.
  • Experience with advanced technical procedures (e.g. intubation, lumbar puncture, central lines, para and thoracentesis).
  • Academic experience in Physician Assistant Education.
  • Sincere desire for personal growth and development as an educator, including teaching, scholarship, and service throughout the course of your career.
  • Involvement or desire to be involved in professional organizations within the field of specialty.
  • Desire to teach and learn from students in all phases of the curriculum.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, specifically MS Office Suite Programs (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and MS Outlook.
  • Ability to work as a team with administrators, fellow faculty, staff, and students.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Physical Requirements

  • Extended periods of sitting and repetitive hand/wrist motion while using a computer keyboard and phone.
  • Occasional standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.

Hiring Range

$130,000 - $140,000 per year (We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.)
