DESCRIPTION

The City of Thousand Oaks has an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Analyst within the Finance Department's Purchasing Division. This position researches issues, analyzes information, evaluates business processes, and coordinates projects that improve purchasing practices, strengthen operational efficiency, and inform decision-making across the organization.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research operational, financial, and procurement-related issues and develop clear, well-supported recommendations

  • Analyze data, identify trends, evaluate outcomes, and prepare reports that support management decision making

  • Monitor procurement activities, contracts, projects, and operational priorities to ensure timely completion and accurate follow through

  • Prepare staff reports, presentations, correspondence, procedures, and other analytical materials

  • Evaluate business processes, identify operational inefficiencies, and recommend practical improvements that increase efficiency, consistency, and service levels

  • Support budget-related, administrative, and operational assignments by compiling data, maintaining records, and monitoring trends

  • Collaborate with City departments, vendors, and stakeholders to resolve issues, exchange information, and advance Purchasing initiatives

  • Perform a variety of analytical, technical, and administrative assignments in support of division priorities

EDUCATION

A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public administration, business administration, finance, economics, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE

  • Two years of responsible administrative, programmatic, or analytical support experience.

  • One year of experience in research, analysis, reporting, project coordination, or administrative support, preferably in a public sector or municipal environment.

A valid Class C California driver's license is required.
