Assistant Activation Tour Manager

About the role
The Assistant Activation Tour Manager supports an experiential marketing campaign focused on brand marketing, product education, and demonstration of the Spin Master Monster Jam Toys at Walmart stores nationwide. As an ambassador of Monster Jam, this full-time over-the-road touring position operates at parking lot events, traveling with and displaying a Monster Jam truck, engaging with consumers, and driving sales.
Reporting to the Global Partnerships Activations Manager and managed onsite by the Tour Manager, this role is part of a touring team responsible for maintenance and general upkeep of the display vehicle. Extensive training will be provided before program launch.
Responsibilities
- Support a touring truck display experience throughout the United States, ensuring safe and timely transport to, from, and between events.
- Oversee set-up, activation, and tear-down of the experience for multiple displays per week over a 20-week program.
- Perform maintenance and general upkeep of the Monster Jam display truck and transport vehicle, including mechanical procedures such as service and repairs.
- Assist with paperwork, service records, expense reports, and inspections.
- Learn and communicate brand talking points with event attendees, fans, and retail consumers.
- Document and report critical tour information, including photos, product sales inventory, and event metrics, back to the in-office Activations team.
- Coordinate event logistics with local retail managers and venue staff to ensure proper preparation and a safe, efficient schedule.
- Proactively engage and interact with guests, offering a professional and friendly greeting.
- Operate, set up, display, and tear down the Monster Jam truck for multiple event days within an activation week.
- Maintain a neat, clean, and visually appealing personal presentation and uphold cleanliness in the experience and work locations.
- Keep all equipment clean and functioning properly, performing regular checks and routine maintenance.
- Identify areas of concern or opportunity to improve program effectiveness and present them to the office team.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Valid and current CDL-A preferred but not required.
- Demonstrated skills in mechanics and repair; previous mechanical experience or a technical degree in engineering or vocational certificate preferred.
- Experience touring and working within experiential marketing programs is a plus.
- Must be task-oriented to meet deadlines and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong team-building and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to frequently bend, lift, stand, climb, and reach; lift and carry up to 25 pounds repetitively and occasionally 75 or more pounds.
- Ability to work in both hot and cold climates and stand for extended periods.
- Willingness to tour and travel full-time for the duration of the 20-week program in a shared tour vehicle.
- Ability to work closely with a teammate in a team environment, prioritizing group success over individual priorities.
- Socially engaging and comfortable interacting with diverse audiences, including clients, guests, vendors, and teammates.
- Strong troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair skills for tour assets.
- Attention to detail, positive attitude, and ability to work autonomously on the road for extended periods.
- Ability to learn quickly and become an expert on client initiatives.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency with working knowledge of Excel and Word.
- Self-starter with proven ability to work without supervision.
