Position Summary

The Assistant Accountant for Accounts Receivable/Cashier manages student, vendor, and event financial transactions while serving as a primary front-facing representative for the Wadley campus. This role involves cash handling, banking operations, financial tracking for grants and housing, inventory management, and general campus administrative support.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Process, receipt, and maintain records for student tuition and fees, vendor payments, and third-party transactions.
  • Receipt incoming restricted grant funds.
  • Balance and prepare bank deposits, review daily bank reports, manage stale-dated checks, and submit stop-payment requests.
  • Prepare meal money distribution for student trips and balance athletic meal reports.
  • Enter student housing fees, balance dorm deposits, and calculate dorm refunds.
  • Oversee online ticket inventory and receive payment for fine arts programs, work select evening hours during performances managing tickets, and reconcile ticket revenue at the conclusion of each event.
  • Assist in preparation of monthly reimbursement reports for restricted funds.
  • Schedule and reserve state vehicles on the campus for employee travel.
  • Serve as college inventory clerk by maintaining digital tracking system, create tags for new equipment, coordinate annual physical inventory counts with facilities staff, and collect asset reallocation forms.
  • Manage the campus mail, including operating postage machine, and receiving and coordinating incoming package delivery.
  • Greet students and campus visitors at the campus information window.
  • Answer incoming calls for campus, provide general college information, and route calls to appropriate departments.
  • Maintain online event calendar for campus and process facility rental request forms.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited university/college.
  • Experience in cash handling, point-of-sale management, bookkeeping, or financial related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in using data entry systems including Ellucian Banner campus management software is preferred.

Pay

Appropriate placement on the Alabama Community College System Salary Schedule E4 (Salary range: $35,670 - $59,541).
