About the role
Prevent and reduce loss due to bad debt, cash over/short and civil liabilities; reduce shrink and improve margins. All associates must perform all tasks in a safe manner consistent with corporate policies and state and federal laws. Demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.
Responsibilities
- Detect, deter and/or detain external theft suspects
- Reduce customer and associate dishonesty by initiating and encouraging actions to prevent external and internal theft
- Monitor large shrink areas in stores
- Report incidents to the asset protection manager
- Support customer and associate relations through communication and training
- Provide credible court testimony
- Identify areas of high theft
- Verify compliance with corporate policies
- Promote and follow company initiatives
- Maintain flexibility to work any shift, overtime and weekends on a regular basis
Requirements
- Knowledge of Fred Meyer policies, procedures and organizational structure
- Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice
- Retail security experience
- Law enforcement experience
- Ability to continue education
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or a combination of relevant education and experience
- Minimum 18 years of age / 21 years of age in Alaska
- Ability to pass a drug test
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to handle sensitive information while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality
- Ability to organize/prioritize tasks/projects
- Familiarity with loss prevention terms and processes
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills
- Model Customer 1st behavior; deliver and encourage other associates to deliver excellent customer service
