Responsibilities

  • Prevent and reduce loss due to bad debt, cash over/short and civil liabilities; reduce shrink and improve margins.
  • Ensure all tasks are performed safely according to corporate policies and state/federal laws.
  • Model and promote the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to maintain a secure environment.
  • Respond to and investigate suspicious activity, deterring and/or detaining external theft suspects.
  • Monitor and report on areas of high theft activity, verifying compliance with corporate policies.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and associates to enhance customer service and resolve issues.
  • Support customer and associate relations through communication and training.
  • Provide credible court testimony as needed.
  • Maintain flexibility to work any shift, overtime and weekends on a regular basis.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Fred Meyer policies, procedures and organizational structure.
  • Bachelors degree in criminal justice.
  • Retail security experience.
  • Law enforcement experience.
  • Ability to continue education.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Minimum 18 years of age/21 years of age in Alaska.
  • Ability to pass a drug test.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Organize/prioritize tasks/projects.
  • Familiarity with loss prevention terms and processes.
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills.
