About the role
The Asset Protection Coordinator is an hourly position that reports to the Market Asset Protection Manager. This role maintains and monitors all asset protection, security, compliance, and safety-related functions within a facility. The mission is to reduce shrink, maintain accurate inventory, ensure compliance, and provide a safe and secure environment for employees and customers through administrative reviews, sales floor observations, and compliance monitoring.
Responsibilities
- Assist in training and developing Outfitters on shrink, safety, and security functions.
- Communicate Asset Protection directives and initiatives to store leadership and Outfitters.
- Provide exceptional customer service, including addressing suspicious behavior or customer needs.
- Identify root causes of shrink through cycle counts, trailer audits, known loss, and vendor compliance analysis.
- Review inventory adjustments, investigate discrepancies, and resolve over/short shipments between distribution centers and stores.
- Promote commitment to asset protection programs among Outfitters and vendors.
- Monitor and maintain physical security and merchandise protection standards, including ensuring tools are removed and products are paid for at point-of-purchase.
- Ensure a safe and secure environment in the facility and parking area for employees, customers, and vendors.
- Conduct known loss investigations and review exception reports.
- Assist in investigations of criminal activity, policy violations, workplace accidents, violence, and operational or nefarious loss.
- Monitor criminal cases, appear in court, and testify as needed.
- Conduct information gathering and integrity interviews when authorized.
- Investigate irregularities in Firearms protocols related to compliance or process concerns.
- Ensure all asset protection and security systems are functional and well-maintained.
- Support store leadership in promoting safety programs, safe work procedures, and participation in safety committees.
- Prepare detailed and accurate reports in a timely manner.
- Obtain any certifications or licenses required by applicable law.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
- Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field (preferred).
- Certifications or licenses as required by local jurisdiction.
- Previous experience in security, asset protection, safety, or retail inventory (preferred).
Skills
- Experience conducting criminal, internal, or related investigations.
- Proficiency with physical security systems (e.g., CCTV, EAS).
- Experience conducting quality reviews or audits.
- Current AHA First Aid, CPR, and AED certification (preferred).
Physical Requirements
- Regularly performs computer work, walks, stands, and lifts up to 50 lbs.
- Occasionally sits.
Travel
Travel is not an essential function of the job but may be requested (less than 10%).
