Asset Protection Associate - Gateway Mall

About the Role

Shrink Observes activities to detect theft, fraud, or suspicious activity within the retail environment. This role involves collecting investigative evidence using CCTV and floor observations, following Asset Protection (AP) directives and company policies for apprehensions, and conducting thorough investigations.

Responsibilities

  • Execute company investigation routines to identify and resolve theft, documenting all stages properly.
  • Conduct external interviews with customers and contractors suspected of theft, adhering to local laws and company policy.
  • Report suspected fraud (e.g., credit/check and refund fraud) and policy infractions to AP and/or store leadership.
  • Create and manage records for apprehensions, witness statements, evidence retention, and disposition of recovered merchandise using approved company methods.
  • Collect evidence and monitor associate activity for internal investigations as directed by AP leadership, and serve as an interview witness when needed.
  • Proactively identify potential theft and fraud by observing associate/customer activity, reviewing exception reports, and following up on referrals.
  • Investigate suspicious behavior by collecting intelligence and documenting observations.
  • Attend court hearings as required, update files with outcomes, and maintain professional relationships with local law enforcement.
  • Travel to stores as necessary and analyze intelligence on individuals and booster groups involved in theft.
  • Support a safety culture through impressions of control, coaching, and recognition.
  • Aid store leadership in morning meetings to communicate current shrinkage and safety topics.
  • Walk the store to identify and correct potential hazards, reporting larger concerns to leadership.
  • Provide emergency or critical incident response, assist with investigations, and complete associated reports.
  • Assist with Asset Protection audits and coach associates on maintaining hazard-free work areas and sales floors.
  • Support stores during critical incidents, business disruptions, or natural disasters.
  • Consistently meet established performance standards for service, productivity, and attendance.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of retail work experience, Asset Protection/Security experience, or equivalent leadership experience/education preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent work experience; AA/BA/BS in Criminal Justice or Business Management preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Reliable transportation required for AP Associates in the Shared Services staffing model to travel to designated stores.

Pay

Pay Range: USD $17.50/Hr - USD $21.88/Hr.
