About the role

The analyst will support the forecasting of the Truist balance sheet with minimal supervision, requiring extensive knowledge of loan products, pricing levers, and a strong understanding of how lending activities interact with broader balance sheet dynamics, including interest rate risk, capital, profitability, and liquidity. The role involves forecasting the firm’s balance sheet and net interest income outlook within the Asset Liability Management (ALM) division of the CFO Group.

ALM is responsible for performing analytics and forecasting for Corporate Treasury, providing senior management with accurate and timely analysis of the balance sheet and net interest income (NII). The team’s work helps position Truist’s balance sheet consistent with its risk appetite and market expectations, while maintaining close partnerships across the enterprise to inform critical processes and strategic decisions.

The Loans Forecasting team within ALM provides quantitative analytics and guidance for forecasting and managing the firm’s loan portfolios. The team collaborates with Loan Lines of Businesses and Finance teams to develop balance and NII forecasts used for enterprise-level Corporate Planning, Interest Rate Risk Management, and regulatory stress test scenarios. Results are presented to executive management regularly.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly loan balance and NII forecasts, including documentation and challenge of assumptions, reporting results to executive management, and explaining variances versus forecast, prior periods, or year-over-year.
  • Conduct standardized and ad-hoc analysis to inform key strategic decisions for loan balance and pricing spread management.
  • Partner with Lines of Business (LOBs) and Finance teams to ensure accuracy and precision in forecasting.
  • Execute CCAR and other internal stress testing routines.
  • Manage and execute key initiatives to enhance forecasting and analytics efficiency.
  • Support quarter-end Investor Relations materials and talking points for investor presentations.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: finance, accounting, analytics, and reporting; or a BS/BA degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, or Business.
  • 2+ years of experience in Asset Liability Management or at a large financial institution.
  • Ability to work effectively, both independently and in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • General ledger experience.
  • Visual Basic (VB) experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) skills.
  • Knowledge of asset liability or liquidity management software, especially QRM.
  • Understanding of financial analysis, forecasting, and analyzing interest income and balance sheet behavior.
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience with financial statements, projections, and financial modeling.
  • Hyperion Essbase experience.
  • Asset and Liability Management (ALM) experience.
