Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Maintain fixed asset subledger; ensure proper capitalization, useful lives, depreciation, and componentization.
- Manage CIP/projects-to-asset transfers; review CapEx requests and compliance with policies.
- Perform monthly close activities, reconciliations, rollforwards, and flux analyses.
- Conduct periodic asset audits, tagging, physical verification, impairments, and disposals.
- Prepare and support external/internal audit requests; maintain policy documentation.
- Oversee inventory valuation (e.g., standard cost/average), reserves (excess/obsolescence), and shrink.
- Cycle counts and bi-annual physical inventories; analyze variances and root causes.
- Monitor equipment allocations, usage, and maintenance capitalization vs. expense.
- Reconcile inventory subledgers to the GL; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Support lease accounting for equipment (ASC 842) in coordination with Corporate Accounting.
- Maintain internal controls and improve processes and documentation.
- Develop dashboards/metrics (turns, aging, utilization, CapEx vs. budget).
- Provide monthly management reporting, forecasts, and ad hoc analyses.
- Partner with Operations to optimize working capital and asset utilization.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field.
- Minimum five years of work experience with a focus on fixed assets and inventory.
- Demonstrated experience with physical inventories, asset tagging, reconciliations, and close processes.
- Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills; ability to partner cross-functionally on site.
- Must work on-site daily in Galveston, TX; limited local travel between facilities as needed.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
- Experience with CMIC strongly preferred.
