Assessor (Quality Assurance Analyst 3/4)

Los Alamos National Laboratory is a multidisciplinary research institution with the brightest minds in the world and unparalleled technology and equipment. Production Assurance (PA) ensures that all products in the Weapons Production Directorate meet or exceed all quality requirements.
Responsibilities
- performing assessments on production activities for weapons, weapons-related, and non-weapons products;
- following up on actions taken in response to audit/assessment/surveillance findings to ensure adequacy of corrective actions are taken;
- developing and implementing institutional and/or weapons policies and procedures related to quality, data gathering, and analysis, cause and corrective action determination and verification, and process improvement activities;
- collaborating with various stakeholders and providing constructive feedback to ensure compliance and continuous improvement within the Weapons Quality Assurance Program
- Providing technical expertise and initiative in developing and implementing Internal Assessment Schedule (IAS) activities,
- acting as lead assessor, and ensuring corrective action implementation through effectiveness review completion, where necessary;
- assisting with causal analyses;
- providing metrics data for tracking/trending purposes;
- acting as SME on relevant quality standards and their implementation;
- representing Production Assurance during DOE and NNSA external assessments.
Requirements
- Quality Standards: Advanced knowledge and experience of quality assurance regulatory/contractual/technical documents (i.e., Department of Energy [DOE] orders, DOE Order 414.1, 10CFR830, NQA-1, DOE/NNSA weapons quality policy (NAP-401.1), nuclear weapons complex technical business practices, the NNSA development and production manual, the NNSA quality assurance procedure and contractual requirements relevant to quality assurance activities).
- Quality Audits: Advanced level knowledge and experience leading quality audits.
- Quality Assurance: Advanced level knowledge and skills in development of tools for quality assurance program development, technical assessments, and corrective action plan development and review, and authoritative reporting to LANL organizations, DOE/NNSA, and contractor organizations.
Qualifications
- Education/Experience for Assessor 3: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, post graduate course work may be desirable.
- Education/Experience for Assessor 4: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree and 12 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, post graduate course work may be expected.
Desired Qualifications
- Quality Standards: Knowledge of and experience in the areas of quality assurance regulatory, contractual, and technical documents, i.e., DOE Order 414.1D, 10 CRF 830, Weapons Quality Policy (NAP-401.1) and NQA-1.
- Quality Assurance: Knowledge of and demonstrated experience in the implementation of LANL contract requirements relevant to assessment and oversight activities. Demonstrated experience with the management of nonconforming product and corrective actions, supplier evaluations, supply chain assurance and product acceptance.
- Certification: A recognized, relative industry certification in quality assurance such as ASQ's CQA and/or CQE certification.
Work Location
The work location for this position is fully onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
