Assessment Specialist

About the role

At Westpark Springs, we offer comprehensive programs including inpatient psychiatric care, detox services, and outpatient options like Partial Hospitalization (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP). Specialized youth services are also available for children and teens aged 12-18, with academic support and family involvement.

Responsibilities

• Receives inquiry calls and assists the caller with scheduling a face-to-face, phone, or tele-assessment
• Trairs individuals based on safety risk
• Affirms or ensures assessment by a qualified mental health professional of patients who present for assessment
• Screens for medical and behavioral emergency conditions
• Performs a comprehensive assessment and quality therapeutic care to patients seeking treatment for substance abuse, dual diagnosis, or psychiatric or emotional disorders; coordinates with the clinical team/on-call physician to ensure these needs are met at the facility or other appropriate community providers
• Interprets treatment to patient and family to help reduce fear and other attitudes obstructing acceptance of care and continuation of treatment
• Completes the administrative processes of admission and precertification of care with external payers, as necessary
• Facilitates response to a request for services, including the initial response, the assessment, the referral process, the designation of the appropriate level of care, admission into services, and appropriate follow-up activity
• Conducts initial evaluation, initiates the assessment, documents patient symptomology, functioning, and needs, and provides information to MD for LOC determination
• Demonstrates excellent customer service skills in assisting patients, physicians, visitors, and coworkers promptly and courteously
• Possess clear knowledge of Emergency Detention paperwork and processes and EMTALA
• Maintains all preadmission and admission paperwork with accuracy and completes all pre-certification with insurance companies

Qualifications and Requirements

• Education: Master's degree in social work or counseling required. RN licensure may be used in place of a master's degree or per state regulations.
• Experience: Prior experience in a psychiatric healthcare facility working with adult and geriatric patients preferred. Must have strong clinical assessment skills.
• Licenses: Current unencumbered clinical social work, counseling license, or per state of practice guidelines. RN license may be accepted but may vary based on the state.
• Additional Requirements: CPR and CPI certified within 30 days. May be required to work flexible hours and overtime and have the ability to meet typing keyboard expectations. With proper credentials, Specialist may be required to complete vitals check on patients.

The schedule is Day shift, 7 am- 7 pm Rotating schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday Wednesday, Thursday.
