Assessment Specialist
About the role

Responsibilities
- Facilitates response to a request for services, including the initial response, the assessment, the referral process, the designation of the appropriate level of care, admission into services, and appropriate follow-up activity.
- Conducts initial evaluation, initiates the assessment, documents patient symptomology, functioning, and needs, and provides information to MD for LOC determination.
- Demonstrates excellent customer service skills in assisting patients, physicians, visitors, and coworkers promptly and courteously.
- Possess clear knowledge of Emergency Detention paperwork and processes and EMTALA.
- Maintains all preadmission and admission paperwork with accuracy and completes all pre-certification with insurance companies.
- Monitors patient for change of condition and responds accordingly up to and including notification of the physician.
- RN follows hospital policy for medication administration.
- RN consistently uses empathy, dignity, and respect when interacting with patients.
- Affords comprehensive nursing assessments on all patients.
Requirements
- Master's degree in social work or counseling, or graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing or relevant state licensure required.
- Previous experience in a psychiatric health care facility, with direct experience working with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric and geriatric patients, preferred.
- Experience in patient assessments, family motivations, treatment planning and communication with external review organizations or comparable entities.
- Current unencumbered clinical social work, counseling license, Registered Nurse or per state of practice guidelines.
- CPR certification and Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- May be required to work flexible hours and overtime.
Qualifications
Applicants should have a master's degree in social work or counseling, or graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing or relevant state licensure required. Skills
Excellent customer service skills, knowledge of Emergency Detention paperwork and processes, clear understanding of EMTALA, ability to maintain accurate paperwork, proficiency in patient assessments, and strong communication skills.

Pay
Hourly range: $30.20-$40.77 per hour.
Schedule
Flexible hours and overtime may be required.
