Position Summary
The Assessment Specialist contributes to the work of the Office of Assessment and Evaluation, particularly in the areas of Academic Program Review and non-credit assessment. Responsibilities include compiling, analyzing, and documenting data for academic program reviews and coordinating non-credit assessment. This position demonstrates sufficient technical knowledge in the collection of quantitative/qualitative data to assist in determining the scope and outcomes of assessment projects.
Responsibilities
- Aid in the coordination of data-collection processes, analysis, data visualization, and producing academic program reviews and other reports for dissemination to a variety of stakeholders, including the public, students, faculty, academic deans, staff, and members of the Board of Trustees.
- Evaluate and integrate supplemental information for academic program review, such as program histories and future directions.
- Gather, analyze, and interpret data for academic program review and non-credit assessment.
- Support in the development of training materials and workshops on assessment practices and technology.
- Serve as a resource working collaboratively with administration, faculty, department chairs and deans on assessment initiatives.
- Assist the Director in responding to requests for consultation on assessment projects or assessment training.

- Maintain the confidentiality of designated information.
- Maintain the security and confidentiality of all student records and other documents on behalf of the work area and the College.
- Deliver quality customer service to both internal and external constituents in a professional, helpful and courteous manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required. Any and all degree(s) must be from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
- Minimum of two (2) years of graduate/professional experience in education, social science, or a related field required.
- Strong oral and written communications skills, including the ability to communicate clearly about assessment methods and results in non-technical language required.
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS Word and Excel required.
- Proficiency with data analysis or visualization software required.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities required.
- Demonstrated project management skills required.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills required.
- Ability to identify and access supporting resources required.
- Ability to work well independently and collaboratively required.
- Ability to maintain sensitivity, understanding, and respect for a diverse academic environment inclusive of students, faculty and staff of varying social economic, cultural, ideological and ethnic backgrounds required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an analytical or research role preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of academic assessment methods, curriculum development and research design and methods preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of educational testing, curriculum development and research design and methods preferred.
- Familiarity with accreditation as it relates to assessment preferred.
- Proficiency with coding languages related to data analysis, e.g., R, SQL, Python, SAS preferred.
