About the role

The Overnight Assessment and Referral RN is a registered professional nurse who assesses and evaluates patients being admitted to the hospital, takes physician orders and does complete medication reconciliation with the physician in accordance with the nursing process and the standards of care and practices. Must have good clinical skills and be able to work independently with minimum supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Complete the Nursing Assessment documenting patient information, medications, medical history, vital signs, and skin assessment.
  • Employ principles of communication and interviewing techniques.
  • Responsible for working with children, adolescents, adults, and senior populations.
  • Must be familiar with common diagnoses with these population groups and familiar with specific assessment and interviewing skills for each population group.
  • Call physician for admission and medication orders.
  • Complete Medication Reconciliation by patient/family/pharmacy verification.
  • Report any signs or symptoms of infection, illness, medical instability to physician after assessment.

Requirements

  • Education: Graduate from an accredited RN program; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a psychiatric facility preferred.
  • Licensure: Currently licensed to practice by the Illinois State Board of Nursing.

Qualifications

  • Must have a working knowledge of the DSM-X, the Mental Status Exam, and the Addiction and Recovery field.
  • Experience completing medical clearance, working in a psychiatric facility, working in a fast pace intake department, working in an emergency department/crisis setting, and Experience with DSM-5 diagnosing.

Skills

  • Excellent clinical skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Effective communication and interviewing techniques.
  • Familiarity with common diagnoses and assessment/interviewing skills for various population groups.
  • Knowledge of DSM-X, Mental Status Exam, and Addiction and Recovery field.
  • Experience with medical clearance, psychiatric facilities, intake departments, emergency departments/crisis settings, and DSM-5 diagnosing.

Pay

This is a Full-Time role and the expected compensation range for this role is $33.00 - $46.00 hourly with shift differential and $5,000 Sign On Bonus.

Schedule

  • 8-hours Friday 11pm-7:30am / 12-hours on both Saturday & Sunday 7pm-7:30am
  • Paid 8-hours for working required shift
