Job Summary
Performs a number of assembly duties to prepare a variety of standard composite parts in accordance with shop orders, oral and written instructions and blueprints.
Responsibilities
- Bonds and assembles composite parts with components using blueprints and assembly tools with the use of fasteners, screws and liquid adhesive.
- Uses standard methods for bonding basic components to composite parts.
- Ensures composite assemblies meet bonding cure specifications.
- Prepares composite surfaces by filling and sanding to a smooth surface.
- Responsible for ensuring finished assemblies meet quality specifications and requirements including performing some functional tests.
- Uses small hand tools, sanders, drills, routers, adhesive applicators, calipers, gauges and other measuring instruments.
- Responsible only for own work.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Education
Must have a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level WorkKeys certification. Textron Aviation's blueprint reading class is preferred.
Experience
6+ months of composites experience required.
Working Conditions
Somewhat disagreeable working conditions with exposure to dust, noise, heat, fumes and liquids. Safety shoes and protective clothing could be required.
