About the Role

As an Assembly Technician, you will assist in building Storyteller Overland’s MODE or HILT adventure vehicles. You’ll take ownership of producing high-quality products while embodying our brand’s reputation within the vanlife and outdoor enthusiast community.

Responsibilities

  • Perform precise assembly and production of RVs and adventure vehicles, including installation of cabinets, walls, plumbing fixtures, roof racks, wheels, appliances, and electrical systems using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment.
  • Monitor and maintain high-quality standards by inspecting components and assemblies, reporting any issues or discrepancies to the supervisory or quality production team.
  • Ensure efficient workflow by maintaining accurate stock levels, anticipating material needs, and replenishing supplies to avoid production delays.
  • Adhere to all system procedures, company protocols, and safety standards to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Collaborate with team members to foster a culture of teamwork, open communication, and mutual support.
  • Participate in ongoing training to improve skills, stay updated on new assembly techniques, and support process improvements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment to promote efficiency and safety.
  • Contribute to innovation by suggesting ideas for improving assembly techniques, workflows, or product quality.
  • Uphold Storyteller’s reputation by building products with the care and precision expected by the vanlife and adventure community.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Schedule

Compressed: Monday - Thursday, 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. (one hour lunch break).

Location

Facility located in the Lakeshore Area, Birmingham, AL 35211 (428 Industrial Lane or 109 West Park Drive).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Strong mechanical skills and proficiency with various tools and equipment.
  • Keen eye for detail to ensure accurate assembly and quality standards.
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration and reporting assembly issues.
  • Physical fitness, including the ability to lift heavy components (up to 50 pounds) and stand for extended periods.

Preferred Experience

  • Previous automotive assembly experience.
  • Carpentry, welding, electrician, HVAC, plumbing, or other skilled labor experience.
  • Construction or manufacturing experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking on the manufacturing floor.
  • Precision and coordination for assembling intricate components and operating machinery.
  • Use of hand and power tools with a steady hand.
  • Reaching, stretching, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching to access components and workstations.
  • Good visual acuity for inspecting components, reading technical documents, and operating machinery.
  • Ability to hear and respond to alarms, machinery sounds, and co-worker communication.
  • Extended periods of sitting for computer work or documentation.
  • Potential exposure to hazardous materials; proper safety protocols and PPE will be provided.
