Responsibilities
- Utilize wiring diagrams, layout drawings, parts lists, and other documentation, along with a variety of tools, to assemble subassemblies and full gauges.
- Cut, strip, and solder wires to create necessary connections within the gauge.
- Test subassemblies to ensure electromechanical components operate smoothly in concert with gear trains, pointers, etc.
- Consult with the in-house machine shop if subassemblies or units require modification of existing parts for smooth operation.
- Consult with the calibration technician or senior production staff to ensure calibration of key components is considered throughout the assembly process.
- Create documentation on assembly and subassembly work to improve future execution of duties.
- Edit or create CAD files as necessary to document new parts or modifications.
Requirements
- Ideally, a background or basic understanding of electronics (full training can be provided).
- Dexterity and familiarity with using various tools.
- Experience assembling instrumentation for aircraft or flight simulators is a plus.
Components Typically Utilized
- Synchros (transmitters, receivers), resolvers, potentiometers, motors, gearheads.
- Circuit boards (integrated circuit chips, microcontrollers).
- Gear trains (collars, pinions, split gears, shafts, bearings, etc.), switches, light bulbs.
